Oktoberfest

posted by The Mosaik Beer Fairy on Sunday, 20 April, 2008 at 10:54

A while back Pete suggested that we all go to Oktoberfest in Munich this year.  I am writing a post to see who is up for this.

Sian and I are deciding whether or not to go and that will largely depend on how "big" an event it is.  We would probably go for a couple of days rather than a whole week or whatever, and we will probably fly there.  Peter is talking about driving from the UK so those that want to do that have the option.

Oktoberfest is from the 20th September to the 5th October (Septemberfest maybe?).  There is a website here.  We're not sure when we're going, but we'd need to be back by the 4th October.

Confirmed

Possible
- Pete
- David and Sian
- Hayley
- nd
- Glyn
- Gav
- Lee

No Way
- FMJ (in Nepal, Lancashire)

You're not becoming a monk are you?

We'll I've got two rather large excursions planned over the summer, so it'll depend on how much funds / how partied out I am after, say, August.  But it's definately a goog idea and I'm definately up for it, if we make it a long weekend it'd be pretty unlikely I couldn't make it.

FMJ - Nepal? Surely not the country, it's a long way from Lancaster.  Is there a village nearby called Nepal or something? :P

Glyn, yeah a long weekend would be best for everyone I think :)

Well I was going to sort proper dates out for this first before posting up anything:

I've booked off from work the following:

26th sept -> 5th october (or possibly 6th can't remember)

As I was planning on going for a decent holiday and doing the following:

Octoberfest
The ring (nurenburg (spl))
Spa (possibility mentioned by my mate andy casey)
Driving thru the swiss mountains and possibly some ski-ing

I understand some people can't do all that time thats up to them, I will be driving over there as will a few of my mates who are coming along, I have space in my car for people who are interested in tagging along for that time, they don't have to contribute for fuel etc I will be going so will be paying it anyways so don't mind all they will need to do is pay for there food/drink and accomodation.

I have got to speak to my mate david corbin about the accomodation as he's been over a few times and knows some good places etc.

I plan on going over on the friday via ferry and coming back on the sunday via eurotunnel so I get the best of both worlds.

If people are interested in taggin along, let me know I can get 3 comfortably in the car 4 if you don't mind less space.

I can probably get space in my mates cars tbh if needed.

There is quite a big interest in this with friends etc and I know for definate there is 2 or more cars from this country going and probably meeting up with my mates from spain there as well.

I'm game for it, I haven't got a holiday planned so this works out pretty well for me.  I might even have a passport by then too ;)

Acidburn on Wednesday, 23 April, 2008 at 12:32

@nd - i'll race you for one :op I gotta get mine soon as well.  Won't take long tho.

What would you do nd? fly or drive?

Should be quite a good holiday just need the mosaik pictures section up by then to remember it.

nd on Wednesday, 23 April, 2008 at 22:57

I'd drive.  No point having a pocket rocket if I can't drive it properly ;)

Acidburn on Thursday, 24 April, 2008 at 12:28

@nd - lol pocket rocket................  um......................need some smiley's on here.....

I'll take you out for a quick blat in mine and see what you think then.  Still yours should be better on fuel than mine.

Should make a lovely road trip, you done any ski-ing nd?

nd on Friday, 25 April, 2008 at 18:10

Yeah I did a beginners course on a dry ski slope.  I loved it, but I'm not very good at it.  You thinking of a skiing trip then?

And yeah, I'm sure your turbo tart car is quicker than mine, but mine's still plenty quick enough to have a load of fun in ;)

Acidburn on Friday, 25 April, 2008 at 20:30

From what david corbin was saying we should be going near some ski-ing places if you come on the mountain trips with us and the rest so could possibly give it a go, I might be doing some practicing in a weeks time providing I get a chance on the way from manchester.

Yeah the car probably is quicker but tbh it bores the hell out of me lol
